New Pub-D-Hub Roku App v3.0.1 - User Guide: Installation / Version Check

ABOUT THE NEW APP

Pub-D-Hub Roku Channel (v3.0.1) was released on 5/9/19. This updated version of the channel is built on Roku's modern SceneGraph platform. Previous versions of Pub-D-Hub were built on the original Roku SDK which has several components that Roku will be removing from their Operating System in 2019. As a result of these OS changes, older versions of Pub-D-Hub will cease to function.

INSTALLING THE UPGRADED APP

If you currently use the standard Pub-D-Hub Channel (v1.0.1-v2.3) which you installed from the Roku Channel Store, this version will automatically upgrade to the new app (v3.0.1) once it becomes available. You do not have to install the new channel manually.

If you currently own an older Roku model that uses firmware below (7.0), the channel will no longer work on that device and may disappear from your device after the upgrade or may just no longer work. Upgrading your Roku device to a more current model is recommended. If you can't upgrade your device right now, we have a temporary solution for you - see INSTALLING THE BETA APP ON OLDER DEVICES section below.

If you uninstall the channel to try and resolve an issue, you can reinstall the latest version by locating Pub-D-Hub in the Channel Store on your device: Go to Streaming Channels > Movies & TV or go to Search Channels and enter "Pub-D-Hub". You may also add the channel to your Roku devices by clicking below link:

INSTALLING THE BETA APP ON OLDER DEVICES

Pub-D-Hub's BETA app is a temporary solution for those unable to upgrade their old Roku model to a more current one. It was launched in December 2017 primarily as a fix for the ALLPLAY feature. The ALLPLAY feature has been broken in the standard app for some time and this version addressed that problem.

The BETA app (v1.0.1) is built on the old Roku SDK and therefore has a short lifespan. Roku will be pulling the plug on several OS components that this version relies on sometime in 2019. Once that happens, the channel will no longer function. However, in the meantime, if the new channel doesn't work on your older model, you can resort to this version until you're able to upgrade your device.

Please keep in mind, this is an unsupported, non-upgradable version of Pub-D-Hub and should only be used as a temporary solution to continue accessing Pub-D-Hub content when the main standard channel upgrade occurs. This version will not receive any updates/upgrades and will only be available until Roku pulls the plug.

The BETA app is not available in the Channel Store. You can only install it as a non-certified channel using below link:

WHICH VERSION OF PUB-D-HUB DO I HAVE?

The easiest way to find out which version of the channel you have is to go to your device's HOME SCREEN, select the Pub-D-Hub Channel (but don't launch it) and press the (*) options button on your remote. The version will appear at the top of the pop up window. You should see something like "Version 1.0 - Build 1".

Another way to find the channel version is to search for the Pub-D-Hub Channel in the Channel Store. Go to "Streaming Channels > Search Channels" on your device. Type in "Pub-D-Hub" and when it comes up, the version will appear under the logo on the left.

Please note that v2.3 is the actual latest version for the main standard channel BEFORE the new v3.0.1 (May 2019), however, you may notice a discrepancy between the version number found while searching for the channel vs. the version number displayed from the (*) button. Pub-D-Hub v1.0.1, in essence, is the same as v2.3 - so either of these represents the standard channel.

Once the new v3.0.1 upgrade is released, this will become the latest and most current version.
